One dead after officer-involved shooting on the Southwest Side
One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting on the Southwest Side early Tuesday morning.
San Antonio police were trying to stop three suspects, all in their late 20s and early 30s, near Five Palms Drive and Shoreview Place around 1:30 a.m., after officers believed they had been breaking into vehicles, said SAPD Chief William McManus. The suspects all ran, but officers caught one, McManus said.
The officer and suspect got into a fight and the officer attempted to use his taser on the suspect, but it had no effect.

The suspect continued the fight, then took the taser and using it on the officer, McManus said. The officer then took out his gun and shot the suspect dead.
The two other suspects were detained nearby.
McManus said the officers were on the lookout for car burglars because there had been a string of incidents in the area recently.
